The month of June was an action packed month for the RTA focus of Vision Rescue with new initiatives launched and fresh vision birthed. June 26 being commemorated worldwide as ‘The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking‘ made us take a second look at what it is we do through the ‘Rescue The Addicted‘ (RTA) program and how we can take it a step further.

Mumbai being one of the cities where drug abuse is rampant with the abusers being as young as 6 years of age, The Anti- Narcotic Cell of the Mumbai Police Department have been working tirelessly to make the streets of Mumbai drug free. We approached them to join us in a movement to make Schools and Colleges ‘Drug Free Campuses‘ for after all

“Prevention is better than cure.”

This involved the huge task of rallying support from various Schools and Colleges across the city. Meanwhile behind the scenes a group of young, enthusiastic volunteers stepped up to create a dramatic mini- production of the harsh realities of Drug Abuse in students.

The morning of June 26 was bright and sunny with no traces of the expected monsoon showers. The venue, Karnataka Sangh Hall at Matunga, was packed even before the program started with the fresh, eager faces of High Schoolers and College Students.
